Guidelines for participating in the Capture The Flag competition
Capture The Flag (CTF) Guidelines
- Respect the Game Server:
- Avoid exploiting the game server in unintended ways.
- Refrain from actions such as brute-forcing or other attacks that could harm the server.
- Respect Other Participants:
- Do not attack or interfere with other players' systems.
- Seek Assistance Thoughtfully:
- If you need help, reach out to the CTF organisers via the designated Discord channel.
- Note that hints will be provided to all players only if a particular challenge remains unresolved by anyone for several hours after its release.
- Report Challenges Appropriately:
- If you encounter a challenge that seems impossible due to an unforeseen issue, consult the organizers. They can assist in troubleshooting or fixing the challenge.
- Expect Dynamic Changes:
- Organizers may introduce new challenges during the competition to keep it engaging and challenging for everyone.
- Minimum Age Required for Award:
- Sponsors of the award are requiring the individual that will win to be above 18 years old to utilize their courses.
- Individual Participation:
- The competition is individual. Collaboration or team play is not permitted.
Common Sense Guidelines
- Be Respectful:
- Always treat others with courtesy and kindness, even in disagreements.
- Respect the privacy and personal information of all participants.
- No Harassment or Bullying:
- Refrain from any behavior intended to intimidate, threaten, or humiliate another person. This includes verbal, physical, or online abuse.
- No Cheating or Plagiarism:
- Play fair, do not copy someone else's work and maintain maturity throughout the competition.
- Support your fellow competitors with kindness.
- Report Issues:
- Inform event organizers and CTF organizers of any violations or problems you notice.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
- Immediate Compliance:
- If asked to stop unacceptable behavior, you are expected to comply right away.
- Appropriate Actions by Organizers:
- The organizers of the CTF may take any necessary action considered appropriate, such as:
- Verbal warning.
- Expulsion from the event venue.
- Pre-emptive ban from future events.
